FOLLOWING from the success at Hook Hollow in Seend, two more Community Land Trusts are making great progress in partnership with White Horse Housing Association to deliver much-needed housing in their community.
In Tisbury the Nadder CLT is working with WHHA and Wiltshire Council’s development arm Stone Circle to build 13 homes on the site of the former sports centre. Six of those 13 homes will be affordable, including one for shared ownership.
The six homes, two one bedroom and a one bedroom flats, one two bedroom flat and two three bedroom houses for rent and a two bedroom house for shared ownership, will be bought by WHHA and sold back to the CLT, then leased to WHHA to guarantee they will be affordable in perpetuity.
There is an agreement with the CLT that they will always be offered first to people with local connections.
Work is due to begin on the site later this year and be available for occupation some time in summer 2025.
In the village of Broad Chalke, near Salisbury, the Broad Chalke Community Land Trust is working with WHHA to deliver six much-needed homes in Knighton Road, four rented – three two-bed homes and one three-bed home – and two two-bedroom homes for shared ownership.
The project, which has been waiting more than a year for full planning permission from Wiltshire Council, has been shared with the community through parish meetings and its Facebook page. Villagers have had a chance to have their say on location and design of the homes.
CLT chairman Dan Richter said: “Because it has been tied in with our Neighbourhood Plan, which has had a lot of consultation, we had lots of village meetings at which we talked a lot about where the houses might go and making sure they will be of a high standard.”
As with Tisbury, the homes will be prioritised for people with local connections.
